Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Despite the news that Nike Inc. sold the United Soccer League to a group from Atlanta, Miami FC is still going strong, and so is its challenge to the fans. Here’s the deal: For every 500 tickets sold to Saturday’s regular-season finale featuring your Miami FC versus the Puerto Rico Islanders, one FC member will shave his head. It won’t be any high ’n’ tight either — we’re talking foam ’n’ razor bald.
And with speed in soccer at a premium, the team needs all the aerodynamic players it can get. One extra baldhead could mean a full step on a game-changing breakaway. Catch the soon-to-be hairless football stars at Lockhart Stadium at 8 p.m., and if you must, wear your Halloween Hare Krishna outfit. Tickets cost $12 for adults, $7 for kids.
