We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures Miami New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
In the land of sunshine and Brazilian bikinis, we need all the Christmas cheer we can get. With a dearth of sleigh bells, sugarplums, and cozy fires, South Floridians have to make their own holiday magic. One thing we do have is a tropical zoo. And Zoo Miami is all about turning its warm-weather menagerie into a winter wonderland with the annual holiday spectacular Zoo Lights.
It’s a dazzling seasonal extravaganza, an animal-themed holiday affair complete with animal-shaped light displays, trees all aglow, hot chocolate and cookies, carolers, and, of course, Santa. You also score a pair of 3D glasses with admission so you can experience the Christmas lights in every dimension. There’s everything but snow.
Zoo Lights is open from 7 to 10 p.m. till December 30 (closed Christmas Eve and Christmas Day) at Zoo Miami (12400 SW 152nd St., Miami). Admission is $5 per person, and packages are available. Call 305-251-0400 or visit zoomiami.org/zoo_lights.
Mondays-Sundays, 7-10 p.m. Starts: Dec. 20. Continues through Dec. 30, 2014
