March is Women’s History Month, and if you didn’t get a chance to observe it as you should have, or if you just really need to conjure up some good karma toward womankind, here’s your last chance. Community Arts & Culture is holding the fifth annual Women and Culture Festival, an artistic celebration of women. The two-day event started yesterday with an all-female art and photography exhibit at the ever-funky Jakmel Art Gallery (146 NW 36 St., Miami), featuring artists Stephanie Van Hauten, Melissa Pena, and others. Today from 7:00 to 11:00 p.m., a diverse lineup of female dancers, musicians, and singers will rock the North Beach Bandshell.
This is no ballad-laden, sappy chick concert. Expect a unique show with ultramodern acts like She Said, a supergroup of Miami’s most talented female musicians, and Agape featuring Nadia Harris, who blend multimedia visuals with organic, electronic music.
Sat., March 31, 7-11 p.m.
We’re thankful for you. Are you thankful for us?
We feel thankful for our staff and for the privilege of fulfilling our mission to be an unparalleled source of information and insight in Miami. We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to this community.
Help us continue giving back to Miami.
