Latkes, tchotchkes, and bagels — oy vey. This isn’t the Judaism your family guilted you about. Thanks to organizations such as The Open Tent, Heebs and gentiles alike can learn there’s more to the Jewish community than just funny words and endless holidays. Schlep over to Sweat Records this Saturday at 9 p.m. to hear the comedic musical stylings of Good for the Jews.
The duo features Rob Tannenbaum of Blender magazine and David Fagin from indie band the Rosenbergs singing hilarious numbers about JDate and eating Chinese food on Christmas. Comedians Daniel Reskin, Jessica Gross, and Ravelstein will also take the stage to poke fun at bubbe’s plastic-covered couch in Boca. Be a good Jewish boy or girl and celebrate the culture by laughing your toochis off at this free event.
Sat., Feb. 21, 9 p.m., 2009
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
At New Times, we’re small and scrappy — and we make the most of every dollar from our supporters. Right now, we’re $16,750 away from reaching our December 31 goal of $30,000. If you’ve ever learned something new, stayed informed, or felt more connected because of New Times, now’s the time to give back.
