In South Beach, nightclubs come and go faster than Alex Rodriguez picks up new girlfriends. But a few good ones have stuck around for a while. This Sunday marks the 11th anniversary of Score, the venerable gay institution. Everything happens faster in the gay world, so 11 years is a big deal, and the boys are throwing a big party to commemorate the occasion.
Score is one of the few spots in South Beach that still boasts a stage for live performances, a real dance floor, and DJs who ditch the iPod playlist and make their own music. Oscar G, who is now resident DJ at Space, started at Score back in the day, and he will return for an encore performance at the anniversary soirée. He and DJ Abel will be flanked by acrobats, fire breathers, and, of course, scantily clad young men who will dance on poles, all in the name of good gay fun. The festivities begin at 7 p.m. and stretch long into the night; Score is one of the lucky few SoBe venues with a late-night license, so they’ll keep the party going until 5 a.m.
