It’s fitting that November starts with the Miami Hurricanes‘ annual Turkey hunt against rival Virginia Tech. These teams have been meeting since 1953, but unfortunately this year’s matchup doesn’t quite have the same flair as in years past. Eleven of the previous meetings between the two schools matched up two Top 25 ranked football programs, but this year all Miami fans have to look forward to is what colored tie head coach Al Golden will be wearing.
The Canes will have a week off after a disappointing loss to ranked in-state rivals Florida State University Seminoles. Hopefully the down time will let breakout star freshman running back Duke Johnson and starting quarterback Stephen Morris heal up their various nagging injuries. They’ll be especially needed to break out of Miami’s current three-game losing streak against the Fighting Turkeys.
Fans are already groaning about another sub-par year for the formerly glorious University of Miami Hurricanes, but there’s still a lot to fight for, namely keeping up with Coastal Conference standings leader Duke. Yes, that Duke.
