Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
When you throw your liquor past the lips and over the tongue, it feels as though the potent elixir is sending the shot straight to your heart. Ahhh, just how we like it. You can keep your rocks, splashes, and twists. We like our firewater like our president — stiff and capable of making our eyes water with pain. And once we’ve pulled our lips from around one of those pixie-size glasses and slammed it down on the bar, we want to do it again. And again. And again. And, um, again. Should we go to rehab? We say no, no, no. We’re going to The Bar for Shot Night.
The bar’s website boasts it’s been “rockin’ the Gables since 1946,” and with two-buck Jäger and Cuervo shots every Wednesday, we’re ready to rock it till 2046. Yeah, it’s only the middle of the week, but our binge will be justifiable, because Jägermeister is actually full of good-for-you herbs, roots, and spices — and in some households, it’s used to cure everything from a cough to a bellyache. We can’t defend the Cuervo, though; it just makes us feel good. The Bar is open from 11 a.m. to 2 a.m.
