Homebrewing, for those who haven’t been paying attention to all things hoppy, has evolved past the days of bathtubs and Igloo coolers. Believe it or not, some of the best brews are made by amateurs. You can see for yourself at this weekend’s Homebrew Beer Competition at Mardi Gras Casino (831 N. Federal Hwy., Hallandale Beach).
Local homebrewers will line up to give you tastes of their sudsy concoctions, including Opus Ales, Brunner Brewing, 3 Sons Brewing, Invasive Species, and Midnight Species Brewing. With more than 30 varieties to choose from, you’ll find at least one to love. Also on hand will be some pros, including Cigar City Brewing and Holy Mackerel Brewing, plus music and barbecue.
Did we mention there’s a Crowd Favorite Brew Category? So you’ll even get to weigh in on your favorite suds.
