South Beach has a long-standing tradition of bringing great dance music to life. It also has decades of experience getting gay dudes all hot and bothered. There might be a connection here.
Sun, skin, and DJ sets go together like coconut-flavored drinks and you, and you know you can put those tropical island alcoholic smoothies down like they’re extra credit. Miraculously, there’s a whole scene for this kind of thing on South Beach, and the annual White Party Muscle Beach is back, with bigger pecs than ever.
It’s an open-air event on the beach at 12th Street and Ocean Drive touting musical madness from the well-toned DJs Micky Friedman and Tristan Jaxx. If their dedication to song selection is half of what they put in at the gym, we’re gonna be all right. Not that you’ll have a hard time dancing all lubed-up on libations. Drinks are handled via drink ticket packages, and organizers encourage you to buy tickets in advance to save on early-bird pricing.
“The Sexiest Dance Party on the Sand” comes to life Sunday from 1 to 8 p.m. Tickets cost $105 plus fees for general admission and $160 plus fees for VIP. The VIP pass comes with express admission, an open bar, and dance space on one of those fancy risers. Drink tickets are priced at $8 for mixed drinks and $5 for everything else.
