The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
The aroma of butter- and sugar-laced confections tickles your nose, alerting you to the fact that baked goods are nearby. So you do what any soul with a mouthful of sweet teeth would do — follow your schnoz to Aventura Mall for the Great American Bake Sale. From noon to 4 p.m., you’ll be greeted by stacks of cookies, tiers of melt-in-your-mouth fudge, and cakes that don’t just say, “Eat me,” but scream it at the top of their sugary, buttery lungs.
Local bakeries, restaurants, and hotels will be contributing the goodies, so you don’t have to stay up all night baking 300 brownies for this one. Your presence is gift enough, because proceeds from each sweet you buy will benefit local organizations that help feed needy children. Even sweeter.
