At the 55th Station, only the most curious and quirky stores take root. And between a tattoo parlor and a sushi spot, the newly opened Betru flourishes. It’s an ethnic and contemporary inspired fashion store, filled with tiny little gadgets, locally made soaps, crystal charms, mochilas, and beads. It even has a spiritual back room.

Cybelc Erdek and Donna Hughes, owners of Betru, also feature their own designs and jewelry in the store. Erdek specializes in creating custom made garments, while Donna, who is also a stylist, takes care of the little back room. She’s the spiritualist connecting to people’s guides, angels, and ancestors to help relay a message or illuminate their path. (A one-hour session costs $45.) Swing by the courtyard, enjoy of a glass of wine at the News, chat with Donna, and fall in love with Betru’s one-of-a-kind finds.
