Keep Miami New Times Free
We’re aiming to raise $7,500 by April 26. Your support ensures New Times can continue watching out for you and our community. No paywall. Always accessible. Daily online and weekly in print.
Orchid lovers are obsessive to a degree that surpasses any other group of collectors. Show them a rare Bornean and they practically wet their pants with appreciation, and who can blame them? With a beauty unmatched in nature and literally countless possibilities in blending species, orchids are the puzzle designed by God herself.
So if orchids are your thing — or you’re looking to make it your thing — you might want to head to the Senator Gwen Margolis Community Center in North Miami for a lecture by Axel Cahiz of Amazonia Orchids. He’ll discuss “Cattleya Culture” and generally dish all of his extensive knowledge of South American orchids.
There will also be a raffle for orchid plants, sale of orchid supplies, member show tables, and refreshments because plant loving makes all of us thirsty.
