A London Bridge in Coral Gables

If you’ve recently found yourself calling the hood of your car a “bonnet,” craving baked beans on toast for breakfast, or driving on the left side of the road, even while sober, you probably have a scone-size hole in your heart that only a healthy dose of British culture can fill. If you’re too broke for a trip across the pond, the Coral Gables Art Cinema (260 Aragon Ave., Coral Gables) offers the best stateside alternative: the series Live From the National Theatre of London. One weekend a month, the cinema will present a high-definition, close-up recorded performance, direct from one of the world’s most respected theater companies.
The first of the series is The Curious Incident of the Dog in the Night-Time, which will show Saturday and Sunday at 1 p.m. The work, an adaptation of a best-selling novel by Mark Hadden, follows Christopher, a 15-year-old boy who resolves to unravel the mystery of a local dog’s death when he’s accused of using a garden fork to fatally stab the animal.
