Karaoke nights in Brickell usually end with lost voices and questionable song choices. For one group of guests at Sweet Caroline, the night ended with a side of petty theft. The popular local bar took to Instagram this week to call out a small group that allegedly walked out with three framed vinyl covers on Tuesday evening, around 1:45 a.m.
The post included surveillance photos showing the guests exiting the bar with the frames clearly visible in their hands. The bar owners did not hold back in their Instagram caption, noting that while they appreciate the guests enjoying the atmosphere, the decor is not for their taking.
“We see you,” the bar wrote in the post. “We get it. The vibe at Sweet Caroline is that good. But so are our cameras. We have video. We have pictures. You didn’t get away with it.”

Small Business Struggles
While swiping a piece of bar decor might feel like a victimless late-night prank to a drunk guest, the team at Sweet Caroline is quick to remind the public that they aren’t a faceless corporate entity. As a small, locally owned operation, they consider the theft an unnecessary drain on time and resources.
“It’s not the end of the world, but it’s an inconvenience we didn’t ask for,” the team shared in a follow-up statement. “Time spent tracking down replacements. Money we didn’t plan to spend. Energy pulled away from the hundred other things that go into running our karaoke bar.”
The owners emphasized that the bar employs dozens of locals and works hard to maintain the space and keep the room packed. When decor goes missing, it’s the staff and the local owners who have to pick up the slack. “When you take from us, you’re not sticking it to some brand,” the statement continued. “You’re making life harder for the people who pour themselves into this place every single week.”
The Comment Section Weighs In
The incident sparked an immediate wave of “only in Miami” commentary on social media. Some regulars suggested the suspects likely have a “daddy always gets me out of trouble” vibe, while others marveled at the audacity of the casual walk-out. One commenter joked that the DJ should dedicate Khalid’s “Young Dumb & Broke” to the group during the next set.
Despite the “ratchet behavior,” as one user called it, the story has a silver lining. Since the post went live, Sweet Caroline has been flooded with messages from regulars offering to donate their own vinyl records to help fill the blank spaces on the wall.
“The outpouring of support, and the offers to donate vinyl to replace what was taken, have reminded us exactly why we do this,” the team said. “This community is the whole point.”
For now, the beloved karaoke bar is keeping things relatively civil, ending their message to the thieves with a simple: “To whoever took them: no hard feelings…hopefully next time you’ll do better.”
