A cult-favorite ice cream shop from New York City has just opened its first Brickell location. However, this isn’t your average Van Leeuwen opening — this scoop shop comes with the brand’s first-ever frozen yogurt offerings.

Van Leeuwen Ice Cream has opened at Mary Brickell Village on March 19, marking the brand’s second location in Miami and the debut of its new frozen yogurt concept.

It will be the first location to also offer frozen yogurt, including delicious tart and matcha flavors

First Van Leeuwen to Also Serve FroYo

The nationally-recognized ice cream brand will introduce frozen yogurt for the first time at the Brickell shop, making it the company’s first dual ice cream and frozen yogurt location. The new offering will launch with two flavors: a classic tart frozen yogurt made with organic A2 Bulgarian yogurt and a ceremonial-grade matcha flavor that will rotate seasonally.

Customers can also try a combination swirl of both flavors. (The timing also coincides with frozen yogurt’s apparent revival in Miami.)

The Brickell shop will still feature Van Leeuwen’s signature ice cream lineup, including more than 25 flavors ranging from “Honeycomb” and “Earl Grey Tea” to “Pistachio” made with Sicilian pistachios from Mount Etna.

The Brickell location will also offer vegan options such as “Banana Bread Pudding,” “Peanut Butter Brownie Honeycomb,” and “Strawberry Shortcake” alongside sundaes, milkshakes, waffle cones, ice cream sandwiches, and pints to go.

The Scoop on the Space

The 1,200-square-foot shop blends the brand’s pastel color palette with custom tile details inspired by its “Vanilla Bean” and “Praline Butter Cake” flavors. The new scoop shop also includes both indoor and outdoor seating in the heart of Mary Brickell Village (ideal for the upcoming summer).

Plus, the dual ice cream and frozen yogurt shop will also feature an expanded toppings menu to complement both offerings. Available toppings include strawberries, pistachio kataifi, toasted coconut, mochi, chocolate curls, cookies and cream crumble, and Sicilian pistachio cream.

What’s the Big Deal?

Founded in 2008 as a yellow ice cream truck in New York City, Van Leeuwen has built a national following for its ultra-rich French-style ice cream made with a higher ratio of egg yolks than traditional recipes call for.

The company has expanded across the U.S. with scoop shops and grocery distribution while gaining buzz for unexpected limited-edition flavors like Kraft Mac & Cheese and Hidden Valley Ranch.

The Brickell location joins the brand’s growing Florida presence, which includes a Miami Beach scoop shop and several locations in Palm Beach County.
