It’s hard to get people excited about socks, but clothing brand Bombas has managed to do just that.

Its trendy socks, which can retail for as low as $10 per pair or up to $180 for a set, have built a loyal following since the company launched as a direct-to-consumer business in 2013. The brand is popular among millennials — you may have heard Bombas sponsor your favorite podcast — but it’s also courted the Gen Z market with longer crew socks in recent years (yes, there’s a fierce generational sock war raging out there).

Now Bombas, which has also expanded to sell underwear, slippers, and t-shirts, is making another notable shift in its business model with the opening of its first brick-and-mortar shops. Earlier this month, the company announced it would open three physical stores across the U.S. Its first-ever brick-and-mortar opened in New York City on Friday, October 17, and another opened in South Florida this past weekend. A third store is slated to open in Austin around mid-November.

The Boca Raton location, located in the Town Center mall at 6000 Glades Rd., is now the brand’s second-ever physical location and its first in Florida. It opened on Saturday, October 25.

The new shops are part of the company’s shift toward in-store retail after more than a decade of selling exclusively online. Bombas also recently announced it will sell some of its inventory at Target and DSW later this year.

Moving into physical stores may be an indication of Bombas’ growing appeal, which extends beyond its products. The brand has also made a name for itself for its charitable business model. According to its site, “For every clothing item you purchase, a clothing item of the same kind is donated to those experiencing homelessness.” The brand claims it has “donated more than 150 million items to more than 4,000 community organizations to date.”

Bombas is just the latest of several high-profile brands putting their stamp on South Florida lately. Earlier this month, celeb-favorite clothing brand Nude Project opened a pop-up in the Design District, and although reps have not yet confirmed it, sleuthing suggests a new Skims store is opening at Sawgrass Mills next month.

Bombas. Open 10 a.m. to 8 p.m. Monday through Thursday, 10 a.m. to 9 p.m. Friday and Saturday, and 11 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Boca Town Center Mall, 6000 Glades Rd., Boca Raton; 561-717-5905; bombas.com.
