More than 2,100 protests are planned across the country this Saturday for another reiteration of “No Kings Day,” a series of protests against President Donald Trump and his administration.

On June 14, which fell on Trump’s 79th birthday and Flag Day, protesters gathered in cities around the country in response to the president’s multimillion-dollar military parade in Washington, D.C. The demonstrations were part of a nationwide day of defiance to “reject authoritarianism.”

Demonstrators will take to the city streets once again on October 18 in all 50 states, including multiple cities in Florida, as part of “No Kings Day of Peaceful Action.” Organizers say people are standing together to unite against President Trump’s authoritarian actions and power grabs.

The protests follow Trump sending National Guard troops to Chicago and Portland amid demonstrations outside U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement (ICE) facilities. Trump claims the troops are needed to bring order to rampant crime in blue cities; his administration has even floated the idea of invoking the Insurrection Act to use military force in Democratic-run cities to stamp down protests.

“Building momentum of the June 14 day of action, which drew more than five million people across all 50 states, the October 18 mobilization is the next chapter in this growing movement,” a press release reads. “Together, millions will send a clear and unmistakable message: we are a nation of equals, and our country will not be ruled by fear or force.”

The groups organizing the protests include the Human Rights Campaign, the American Civil Liberties Union (ACLU), the American Federation of Teachers, the Service Employees International Union (SEIU), 50501, and Indivisible.

More than 80 protests are planned in Florida, including Hollywood, Fort Lauderdale, West Palm Beach, and Miami. Organizers maintain that these demonstrations will be peaceful.

“A core principle behind all No Kings events is a commitment to nonviolent action,” the organizers said. “We expect all participants to seek to de-escalate any potential confrontation with those who disagree with our values and to act lawfully at these events.”
