On Tuesday, September 30, Los Angeles’ most talked-about grocery store, the celebrity-obsessed, notoriously expensive Erewhon, set the internet ablaze. With a single post across Instagram and Threads, the cult-favorite health-food chain teased multiple U.S. cities, including Miami, with cryptic maps and the caption: “The Taste of Erewhon in Your City. Coming soon.”
Cue the meltdown.

Within two hours, the post had racked up more than 26,000 likes and hundreds of comments, many from Miami “it girls” who seem to have already imagined themselves sipping on $20 Hailey Bieber smoothies while strolling down the Design District. Across social media, comments are flooded with locals begging the chain to open here next, spamming comments with “Please Miami!” and “We need this ASAP.” However, some were repulsed by the news of an expansion outside of Los Angeles, with one writing, “It’s all downhill from here. Part of the allure is it’s an L.A. thing.”
So, could Erewhon, the same grocer where Kendall Jenner stocks up on green juices and influencers document their $17 celery tonics, actually be coming to the 305?
Not so fast.

Erewhon Updates the Caption
After the internet spiraled, Erewhon quietly updated the caption to: “A Taste of Erewhon Shipping to Your City. Coming soon.” Translation: Miami isn’t getting a full-blown Erewhon storefront just yet. Instead, locals will be able to order Erewhon products shipped directly to their doors, a move that, while convenient, doesn’t quite replace the Instagrammable allure of bumping into A-listers in the smoothie line in person.
New Times has reached out to Erewhon for comment.. so technically, there’s still a chance a real location could be on the horizon.
What’s the Big Dill with This Place?
For the uninitiated, Erewhon is what would happen if Fresh Market and Pura Vida had a baby, then sprinkled in a dash of Grove Grocer (if you know, you know). It’s equal parts curated groceries, Instagram bait, and a lifestyle brand disguised as a health market. Founded in the 1960s as a small macrobiotic shop, Erewhon has evolved into a million-dollar empire with ten L.A. locations and an influence that extends far beyond its overpriced adaptogenic tonics. It’s gone so mainstream and viral that even smoothie spots down in South Florida, like Garden Butcher in Boca Raton, are copying its aesthetics and vibe.
If Erewhon were to open in Miami, you can already picture the crowd: affluent Brickell girls in oversized sweatshirts and biker shorts ordering smoothies before Pilates, uppity Sunset Harbour couples debating between sea moss gels, hot Alo-clad men and women, living in Midtown making Erewhon their personality, and of course, the Bal Harbour moms. You know the type: perfectly blown-out hair, Cartier love bracelets stacked up to their elbows, casually dropping $150 on coconut yogurt and raw honey while debating which Hermès tote matches their Erewhon haul.
So, is Erewhon actually opening in Miami? Not yet. However, the buzz — and the definite shipping option — might just be the first step. Until then, we’ll settle for overnighted smoothies instead of celeb sightings in the produce aisle.
