On a recent visit to Milwaukee, we stumbled across a cocktail bar call At Random. It was located in a residential area that looked like a throwback to the ’60s. There were no set hours and a drink menu full of complex lounge beverages, no beer or wine. The music came from a jukebox in the corner. The waitstaff appeared to have been part of the opening team back in the day.

We settled into a booth and opened the menu to the 20-something ice cream cocktail offerings. There were names like Pink Squirrel, Yellow Bird, and Peanut Butter cup. And these drinks carried a punch!

After draining the glass in a heartbeat and then trying hard to focus in the dark surroundings that are covered in a hue of red, we decide these drinks are a perfect grown up milkshake for Floridians. Where else can we legitimately cool down with an ice cream year round? Add alcohol and you’ve got the perfect recipe for a Saturday afternoon.

These recipes are inspired by our visit to At Random.
