Seems like the rumor mill is working overtime in Miami. Yesterday we got wind that Mia at Biscayne had closed down and a burger joint was opening in its place. A call to Mia’s offices shed light on the situation (somewhat).

Mia is not dead — she’s just undergoing a metamorphosis. The hip trendy Mia restaurant of old, filled with beautiful people who work and live in downtown Miami, is considered closed to everyone but Mia staffers.

According to a Marilyn, an Mia employee, the lounge is not “closed”, but is undergoing a “remodeling” and will open in the next month or so. When questioned about the burger sign in the window, she replied the new name would be “Damn Good Burgers.”

A visit to Mia’s website show’s Mia’s upscale sushi-centric fare has been replaced with a “DGB” logo and the ever-maddening term “coming soon.” As Eater noted, Charlie Palmer has a burger joint by the same name at Bloomingdale’s in Costa Mesa, California. Mia’s logo, however, looks totally different.

The lounge at Mia remains unaffected by this turn of events and remains open for drinking and dancing.
