Michael Schwartz is opening a third branch of his popular casual eatery, Harry’s Pizzeria.
With a flagship in the Design District and an outpost in Coconut Grove, Schwartz is looking to Kendall for his third spot. He’ll open a Harry’s Pizzeria in the residential and retail development Downtown Dadeland, at 8975 SW 72nd Pl., in spring 2017.
Schwartz says of his decision to expand his restaurant empire south: “We are so excited to connect with a new community of people who are gathering around great food, which is exactly what Harry’s is all about. We have some work ahead of us but look forward to welcoming guests into our new home with great pizza and genuine hospitality!”
Located across the street from Dadeland Mall, Downtown Dadeland is fast becoming an area mecca for foodies. The mixed-use minicommunity has a host of eating places, including BurgerQ, Nanndi Frozen Cream, and Barley. In December, Niven Patel plans to open Ghee Indian Kitchen there.
Coincidentally, Downtown Dadeland will reunite Patel with his former boss. Patel was chef de cuisine at Michael’s Genuine Food & Drink, Schwartz’s most famous restaurant and the establishment that earned Schwartz a James Beard Award.
Will you step up to support New Times this year?
We’re aiming to raise $30,000 by December 31, so we can continue covering what matters most to you. If Miami New Times matters to you, please take action and contribute today, so when news happens, our reporters can be there.
Now that both chefs will soon call Downtown Dadeland a home to their eateries, here’s hoping they will reunite for a few collaborative dinners.
