In the midst of his reelection campaign, Democratic Rep. Joe Garcia decided to jump on the internet’s coldest trend, the ALS Ice Bucket Challenge.
In true Florida style, Garcia accepted the challenge on the beach. Honestly though we’re a little overwhelmed. We wanted to see a bigger bucket.
The Ice Bucket Challenge has taken the internet by storm this month with the aim of promoting awareness of Amyotrophic lateral sclerosis AKA Lou Gehrig’s Disease, a neurodegenerative disease.
During the time, the ALS Association has seen donation rise to $4 million, compared to the $1.2 million raised in the same time last year.
Of course, part of the challenge is challenging someone else to get ice dumped on them.
Garcia challenged Key West Mayor Craig Cates, Florida State Senator and new Miami-Dade Dems leader Dwight Bullard, and his brother Mo Garcia.
