New Restaurants to Try This Week: Ecléctico, Yip, C4Eats

Miami’s latest round of restaurant openings includes a slew of new eateries, from the first U.S. locations for two European brands and a popular French p’tisserie to the third restaurant for fast-casual dim sum joint Yip and pan-Latin fusion newcomer Ecléctico.

C4Eats

c4eats.com Randy “Cartoon” Kelly, owner of newly opened C4Eats, says he adopted a plant-based diet while traveling on tour as a road manager for rapper 24hrs. Finding good food he could feel good about on the road was a challenge, so Kelly created C4Eats as a way to offer others in search of a meat-free menu a diverse variety of organic vegan substitutions free from pesticides and processed ingredients – all without sacrificing flavor. Everything is made fresh and from scratch, so calling ahead for special orders is advised. The C4Eats offers seasonal dishes meant to accommodate fast-paced lifestyles like its founder’s, from a sweet-and-salty kale salad to chick’n and waffles to vegan takes on meaty favorites like a double cheeseburger, fried conch (fired oyster mushroom strips in a batter flavored with sweet kelp), and a citrus-marinated “rib” wrap. Open daily from 11 a.m. to 11 p.m.

Ecléctico Restaurant & Mezcal Bar

eclecticomiami.com Ecléctico recently opened its doors in Coral Gables with a Pan-Latin fusion focus. The restaurant, from Ramzi Zahr (who also owns nearby Sawa Restaurant & Lounge), offeers a vast menu of small and large plates – like the lobster “tacosito,” four gyoza taco shells stuffed with guacamole, lobster salad, spicy cilantro mayo, hibiscus granules, and petite cilantro. Find tacos, quesadillas, tostadas, and family-sized meals here, too. Open daily from 4 to 10 p.m., and Friday and Saturday from 4 to 11 p.m. (Happy hour Sunday through Thursday, 4 to 7 p.m.)

Les Moulins La Fayette

The concept is the work of founder Johnny Jeulin – a fifth-generation baker, pastry chef, and chocolatier who started his first business at the age of 20 in La Loupe, France. Today, his bakery brand offers a wide assortment of pastries and sweet eats ranging from petite desserts and chocolates to croissants made with French cultured butter and fresh-baked, artisanal breads. The real treat: the house-made viennoiserie, a traditional French cake- or cookie-like pastry. Those looking for a quick lunch or meal can also choose from a number of ready-to-eat sandwiches, quiches, and more. Open from 8:30 a.m. to 9 p.m. daily.

Established by the Gold Marquess family from Pembroke Pines, Yip is all about making Chinese food accessible to South Floridians, offering authentic recipes like steamed har gao and xiao long bao (soup) dumplings to softshell crab bao buns – even boba milk teas. With additional locations at Doral Yard and 1-800-Lucky, Yip is making it that much easier to find good Chinese on the go. Open from noon to 9 p.m. daily.
