One of our favorite local music events last year was the So Raw Festival, a two-day summer jam that showcased some of the best local and international lo-fi, garage, and straight-up rock and roll around. Oh, and did we mention the promoters graciously included free booze with the low, low admission price?
The loosely affiliated crew has been putting together a number one-off events sporadically across the past few months, but we’re toked they’ve officially announced the 2010 return of the So Raw Festival proper. It’s set to take place across two days again, on Friday, June 18 and Saturday, June 19, at the new event space the Stage, at 170 NE 39th St.
Florida bands scheduled to play include favorites like Heartstrings, Teepee, Electric Bunnies, Slippery Slopes (repping O-Town), and Sexcapades. Confirmed out-of-towners so far are Shining Path, GULL, and the Barreracudas. Tickets cost $10 a night, include all-you-can-drink Naragansett beer and Select vodka, and are available online here.
As part of the ongoing celebrations leading up to the fest, organizers are also opening the official So Raw pop-up store at 155 NE 38th Street, right across from the shows’ venue, within local designer Nektar de Stagni‘s own shop. Stop there for cigarettes, candies, and various sundries, as well as music and limited-edition T-shirts. The store opens June 12 and will be open Monday through Saturday, noon to 6 p.m., through July.
