A puppy has been rescued after being stuck underneath a car yesterday near Northwest 16th Street and Second Avenue. The pup seemed to have gotten his collar snagged on a portion of the car’s engine, and rescuers don’t know how long he spent underneath the vehicle. No one even noticed the dog was stuck until passerbys heard his whimpers for help.

“With the dog being under the car, it’s a good thing he was protected from the heat,” Miami Fire Rescue Lieutenant Ignatius Carroll told WSVN, “but you know, just the fact that not knowing how long he was under the car, how long he had been under water, he is definitely dehydrated.”

Firefighters had to lift the car up on a jack in order to rescue the dog. No one knows who the dog belongs too, and firefighters are currently searching for its owners.
