This tune was an urban anthem 18 years ago and it’s just as vital right now. Can’t believe it’s been that long, but “Self Destruction” is one of the most important hip-hop songs ever created!
I’m probably missing somebody but here’s the Stop The Violence Movement as I could catch it: KRS-ONE, Public Enemy, Heavy D, MC Lyte, Just Ice, Ms. Melody, Daddy-O, D-Nice, Kool Moe Dee, Doug E Fresh, plus a host of cameos that made this video a classic.
You start to wonder if we need another video like this right now. On a national “industry” level, it would probably just get pimped out… but if they shot a video like this locally–or at least underground, who should be in it? Hit us up. —Jonathan Cunningham
