Fontainebleau’s Blade Sushi restaurant will officially close this coming Monday, March 29th, to be replaced by a music driven lounge. I asked Fontainebleau Public Relations Manager Paula Gomez if it was anything I said in Blade’s review two weeks ago, but she insists that these plans had been in the works for some time. “We want to make it into more of a nightlife venue. There are always so many people going into LIV (the Fontainebleau club), it makes sense to have (Blade) as a small lounge experience.”

Paula went on to use words such as “toned down”, “exclusive”, “high energy” and “celebrity type of hangout” to describe what the new place will be, which almost sounded as though she was warning me not to try to get in. The new name hasn’t yet been finalized, but they are hoping to re-open within the next month or so. Blade’s more popular items will live on via the menu at the resorts’ VIDA restaurant.
