The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.
Panda Kitchen & Bath, in cahoots with Whole Foods Market (and Miami New Times, among others), is offering a total kitchen makeover plus one year of free groceries — the two worth over $14,000 combined! Here’s how it works:
You visit this place HERE, upload a photo of your miserably ugly kitchen, and give a brief explanation as to just why it deserves a makeover more than anyone else’s miserably ugly kitchen. Then you get everyone you know to go and vote for you, because ultimately this is a popularity contest and the most votes gets the makeover.
There are charitable interests at work here as well: The first 5,000 uploaders will have a $1 donation made in their name towards Share Our Strength, the national organization whose goal is to end childhood hunger. And “celebrity chefs” Brian Aaron and Adrienne Calvo will cook a meal in the lucky winner’s remodeled kitchen. Calling Aaron and Calvo “celebrity chefs” is as charitable as you can get.
Contest runs until August 8, so get busy!
