What do you get when you cross Miami’s oldest bar with Miami’s newest food trend? A food truck roundup at Tobacco Road this Sunday from 1 to 5 p.m., of course..
The Road, the Magic City’s oldest gin joint, will host its first weekly food truck roundup in the back parking lot just off South Miami Avenue. In a unique show of cooperation, people can buy food at the trucks and eat inside or drink on the outdoor patio.
Trucks confirmed so far are Latin Burger, Dim Ssam a Gogo and The Fish Box (there may be additional trucks named as the event gets closer).
Tobacco Road Manager Joe Portela is a big fan of food trucks, having been to the 109th and Biscayne roundup in the past. When some of the trucks’ owners approached him with the idea of having a small roundup at Tobacco Road, he thought it was a great idea. “I don’t know what to expect the first roundup, but we’re giving people and families a place to sit down, enjoy drinks and our full menu in addition to the trucks. Football season’s over so let’s try something new.”
