El Palacio de los Jugos, which makes the best batidos, arepas, lechon asado — heck, let me just say it’s my favorite Cuban joint in town — is negotiating a lease for a new location across the street from the Federal Courthouse in downtown Miami. Owners Beatrize and Reinaldo Bermudez hope to have it open by early 2008, but, sounding a realistic note, Beatrize mentions that “it took almost seven months” to start up their previous branch at 7085 Coral Way. El Palacio de los Jugos’ first two venues are still going strong at 14300 SW 8th St., and the original (since 1978) at 5721 W Flagler St.
Just wondering: How many dim gringo lawyers do you think will translate the downtown restaurants’ name as “The Palace of the Judges”?
