You know what to Deuce
Last week, we told you about Mac’s Club Deuce’s shot at national recognition via Esquire magazine’s rating of the top bars in America.
Thursday Riptide received a message from Deuce bartender extraordinaire Melissa Burley bemoaning some Deuce patrons’ less-than-agile way with the online voting. It turns our that “some deucers, properly under the influence and all that, moved the slider to the left – to vote for the deuce bar as number one, thinking that they were ranking the bar rather than rating it.”
To wit:
Yo Deucers,
Sadly, it’s come to our attention that some deucers weren’t voting
properly. I know it’s Floriduh, and voting is interpretive, but for
the record, on the Esquire poll, you MOVE THE SLIDER TO THE RIGHT if
you like the Deuce.
Some deucers, properly under the influence and all that, moved the
slider to the left – to vote for the deuce bar as number one, thinking
that they were ranking the bar rather than rating it.
So, we totally appreciate your votes, and meaning well is half the
battle, but for future ref, please move the slider all the way to the
right. And in order to make it right, you’ll have to vote many more
times. Focus. Channel your Obsessive Compulsive Behavior.
We sabotaged ourselves and went from number 1 and 83% to no ranking
and 70%. Which means a lot of Deucers we’re acting out their obsessive
compulsiveness on this poll, which is a good thing. But this time, do
it right.
We’ve bounced back to number 5 and 78%, but our thumbs are numb from
the clicking and dragging.
And no one knows when the poll ends, so we could be at this for a long time.
Down with the Globe!
So let’s go over this one more time, people: Moving the bar to the left = BAD. Moving the bar to the right = GOOD. Now, bottoms up, and go get ’em! —Frank Houston
