In this week’s issue of the Miami New Times, I talk to DJ I-Dee about his debut full-length original album, Solitude. It’s a solid album, but one of its best tracks didn’t make it onto the CD, thanks to sample clearance issues. It’s called “The Right,” and features one of Miami’s best MCs, Wrekonize, as well as one of the last few recordings by the retired-then-un-retired firebrand Jean Grae.
Instead, I-Dee has released a video for the track, filmed here earlier this year, as well as a free MP3 of the track. The video, featuring a lot of I-Dee’s beloved video game imagery, was directed by prolific local video director Jokes Yanes.
