Despite passing a physical with Dolphins physicians and some apparent mutual interest, it seems that Jeremy Shockey won’t be suiting up in Orange and Aqua next year. According to the AP, he’s agreed to join the Carolina Panthers, who despite the best efforts of the ‘Fins last season, actually had the worst offense in the league.
Shockey, who was cut from the Saints last month, was a star at the University of Miami. He’d be a natural fan favorite in local sportster’s eyes, but it was a non-geographical UM connection that may have landed him in Carolina. He’ll be reunited with Rob Chudzinski, the Panther offensive coordinator and former Hurricanes tight end coach.
Shockey is believed to have signed a one year contract with the Panthers. Though, despite superstar performances in the past, some commenters believe 30-year-old Shockey’s talent is on the wane.
