Police in Titusville, a town near the Kennedy Space Center, are investigating a gruesome tragedy this morning. Local police say a 19-month-old child was killed when his grandmother accidentally ran him over with a lawnmower.

Here are the details the Titusville Police Department released to Riptide: Local police were called around 11:50 a.m. to 4150 Navajo Lane in Titusville, in Brevard County.

They arrived to find the 19-month-old boy severely injured. The child’s grandmother was towing the kid in some kind of a cart behind the mower, police say.

It’s still not clear how the boy fell into the path of the mower, but he was hit by the moving blades before his grandmother could stop the machine.
