Few things short of a house fire will drag hard-core gamers from the couch. But Video Games Live, a concert event hosted by the gaming industry, might be one of them.
Video Games Live is created, produced, and hosted by Tommy Tallarico, a videogame music icon. In the show, top orchestras and choirs from around the world perform music from famous videogames, which is set to synchronized video, lasers, lights, and special effects. The show has been performed more than 250 times in 25 countries since its premiere in 2005.
Video Games Live begins at 8 p.m. this Friday at the Adrienne Arsht Center (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami). Preshow lobby activities include a costume contest and a Guitar Hero competition, whose winner will get to play onstage during the show. For the ultimate game music fan, the VIP Backstage Package includes tickets to the show, a preshow production tour, a Q&A and personal meet-and-greet with Tommy Tallarico, and a bunch of other show goodies such as a download card, a vintage poster, and temporary tattoos.
