There once was an old man named Jiggalo, who regularly spent his days at the Rollexx strip club in North Miami. He used to tell anybody listening that he had 99 problems but a bitch wasn’t one. Well, most of the patrons took his saying for granted, but a young rapper named Brother Marquis from a group called 2 Live Crew was listening. And when he headed out to Los Angeles for a recording session with veteran gangster rapper Ice T, he pulled the slogan out of his back pocket and used it to make a track. Well, ten years later, Brooklyn rapper Jay Z took the slogan, exploited it, and made a hit so big that even North Koreans know the words. Jay Z made millions, Ice T got his piece of the royalties, and Brother Marquis was lucky to see ten stacks of hundreds. But if it weren’t for the streets of Miami, Jay Z would probably still be selling drugs in Brooklyn.
