If one of your resolutions for this year is to see more Broadway plays, you’re in luck. The five-time Tony Award-winning Guys and Dolls is stopping by Miami for one night only, this Saturday. The musical comedy debuted on Broadway more than half a century ago and ran for 1,200 performances. It spawned many London revivals and even a film adaptation in 1955 starring two guys you might have heard of: Marlon Brando and Frank Sinatra.
Today’s Broadway version doesn’t include those talented cats (RIP), but Sky Masterson and Nathan Detroit will return in this oddball comedic mashup about petty criminals and the women who love them. The modern-day iteration of the 1951 Pulitzer Prize winner for best drama will likely elicit tears and laughs as gangsters, mobsters, and “Cuban milkshakes” take over the fictional land of Runyonland, which depicts the hard-knock life of 1930s New York City.
Showtime is 8 p.m. at the South Miami-Dade Cultural Arts Center (10950 SW 211th St., Cutler Bay). Tickets cost $35 to $65. Call 786-573-5300 or visit smdcac.org

Sat., Jan. 3, 8 p.m., 2015
