Do you hear the frogs croaking and the guitars strumming? That’s the sound of the second-annual Swamp Stomp music festival gearing up to take over Tobacco Road (626 S. Miami Ave., Miami). What began as a backyard barbecue with bands, booze, and merriment grew into a full-on festival at Miami’s oldest bar last year. Turns out they had so much fun they’re celebrating their sixth year of Swamp by going bigger again.
Swamp Stomp 2014 expands the fun to both Friday and Sunday and offers two days of shows sure to knock you on your ass and leave you begging for more. The first night will host a house of reggae, with performances by Jahfe, Johnny Dread, and Don Sha. Come Sunday, the amps will turn up for some old-fashioned American rock ’n’ roll by ten musical acts, including Stop the Presses, Roosevelt Collier’s Phunk Phactory, and Los Bastardos Magnificos.
It’s at Tobacco Road, so you know the drinks will be flowing and the dishes will be tasty. The party kicks off Friday at 8 p.m., and tickets cost $10 in advance or $15 at the door. Call 305-374-1198 or visit tobacco-road.com.
