Not many establishments in Miami have been around 25 years, let alone have been celebrating All Hallows’ Eve with a costume party that long. At the top of that list is Coral Gables’ authentic Irish pub, John Martin’s (253 Miracle Mile), marking the evening of October 31 the right way — with two costume parties and no cover charge.
If you’ve been to John Martin’s, you probably know about its homemade Bailey’s ice cream. Maybe order some of that between shots. The only requirement, though, is that you come in costume. If you have some garb from the ’80s lying around, the boogie-night theme is the perfect excuse to put those leg warmers and neon accessories to good use. Just make sure you’re comfortable enough to dance, because a DJ will play the era’s biggest hits while you lunge under a disco ball to impress the costume contest judges.
If adventure and rum are more your thing, cover an eye and practice your Captain Jack Sparrow impersonation. Besides prizes for the top contenders, there will be additional giveaways and $5 drink specials from Captain Morgan, which will go perfect with your pirate outfit. The festivities begin at 9 p.m. Thursday. Call 305-445-3777 or visit johnmartins.com.
