Copper Fest, the Copperbridge Foundation’s exciting weeklong event that celebrates Cuban arts and the African roots that influence them, is finally upon us, and with it comes a multitude of events, performances, and works of art at multiple Miami venues.

Tuesday will be chock full of with events that begin in the early afternoon at the Light Box at Goldman Warehouse (404 NW 26th St., Miami) and culminate in a double feature of short documentary works in the evening.

Those documentaries, made with the support of the Copperbridge Foundation, are Oshun’s 11 and Detrás del Muro, which were featured side-by-side at this year’s Gasparilla International Film Festival. The first work follows the spiritual journey of 11 Americans traveling from Miami to Havana to learn about the religion of the orishas, and the latter offers insight into the largest art installation of the 11th Havana Biennial, comprising works by 25 artists along the Havana Malecón. The low-priced $5 tickets pack hours’ worth of film footage, which promptly begins at 8:30 p.m., and can be purchased at copperbridge.org.

Tue., Sept. 9, 8:30 p.m., 2014
