Ra Ra Riot is no newcomer to the indie-music-sphere. With three successful albums and a host of famous friends (like Vampire Weekend, whose members have collaborated on various albums and side projects), the NYC-based four-piece is a true darling of the beat scene. Still, Ra Ra Riot hit the studio for its third LP, Beta Love, looking for change.
They teamed up with acclaimed producer Dennis Herring (Modest Mouse, Elvis Costello, Wavves) to pare down their orchestral sound and help them get out of their own heads. The result is an upbeat, driving, dance-oriented record that plays to the band’s strengths while keeping things simple.
With Beta Love, Ra Ra Riot has transformed itself into a new being, and you can catch that raw power, along with openers Royal Bangs, onstage at Grand Central (697 N. Miami Ave., Miami) this Wednesday. The show begins at 8 p.m., and all ages are welcome.
