“Never get married.” You might have heard this advice from a particularly randy friend or co-worker. Or your father. But now it’s the title of a new movie by South Floridians. The independent drama premieres on the big screen at the Colony Theatre this Saturday at 7 and 9:30 p.m.
Never Get Married tells the story of Kurtis (Woody Deant), a single guy who sleeps with married women, and his friends Randy (Eric Bendross), a married man whose wife is cheating on him, and Jason (Federico Magnorsky), another single dude. Kurtis gets into an affair with the wife of a businessman, and violence ensues.
Johnny “J-One” Pierre was inspired to write on the script after hearing friends and relatives tell of marriages that descended into infidelity. Then, just to prove that family should stick with family, he had his brother, Peaty James (AKA John Pierre), direct it. Despite its title, the movie is not anti-marriage, J-One insists. “My point I’m trying to get across is: Don’t rush into it,” he says. You’re preaching to the choir, dude.
