The challenges facing local news organizations are very real. That's why reader support matters more than ever. If you believe independent journalism matters, make a contribution today and help us reach our summer fundraising goal of $10,000 by August 9.

$10,000

For peeps of a certain age, the memory of middle school makeout parties in dimly lit basements will be forever soundtracked to the sweet and sticky slow jams of Mr. Keith Sweat. Thanks to the sensual whining of “Nobody” and words like “Who can sex you like me?” the summer of 1996 turned into a three-month marathon of sloppy tongue kissing and frantic dry humping.

This Friday, go get Sweat-y again when the makeout party moves to the James L. Knight Center (400 SE Second Ave., Miami). The master of the long and easy lovestroke will deliver an early Valentine’s Day concert, dropping a selection of his very best babymakers, alongside fellow slow jammers Kem and Joe.

Fri., Feb. 12, 8 p.m., 2010
