If you spend enough time in South Beach after dark, you probably know a couple of queens. But just in case you haven’t been keeping up with the cross-dressing scene, let us introduce you to one of our city’s most widely known female impersonators: marytrini, a.k.a. “The Empress of Drag.”

Born Alexis Fernandez Mena, the Cuban entertainer puts the fab in fabulous daily, but you can catch him/her live and in living color each week during Cabaret Fridays at La Paloma European Steak & Lobster House. Beginning at 10:00 p.m., Marytrini and friends will have you dancing in the aisles with a night of song, comedy, and more costume changes than you can probably handle. “It’s very classy, very beautiful, with beautiful clothes. It’s hard to explain, but it’s a great show,” says La Paloma owner Maria Staub. Have a bite to eat at La Paloma and you can watch the show for free, but if you arrive after 10:00, you gotta cough up 10 bucks at the door and fulfill a two-drink requirement. Call 305-891-0505 for reservations.
