Most major cities have publicly funded museums, giant freaking buildings full of art. We do things different in Miami, where private citizens with great art collections step up to the plate, open them to the public, and offer tours for school kids. That’s culture, baby. For instance, the De La Cruz Collection has a multi-story, 30,000-square-foot warehouse at 41 Street on the east side of North Miami Avenue in the Design District. The following visuals will surely inspire you to visit.

They have a huge collection of internationally renowned art work, but they also show much love to Miami artists. Submit your portfolio through their website alongside a proposal for an installation, and they may give you up to $1,600 dollars to make it a reality in their project room. Do it before the end of January for a chance to make it happen this March. They rotate projects every few months. We recently checked the place out and saw a lot of cool shit.
