The beauty of Miami’s many sky-high alfresco party spots isn’t in the blustery winds that rip through our updos like a horny teenager on prom night. And even though we’re chin-deep in what might be the worst economic quagmire since the Depression, the beauty isn’t in the fact that the venue doesn’t have to worry about pesky heating or cooling costs. We love partying under the stars, because the Miami skyline offers the perfect place to lay your eyes when we’re trying to avoid the hard gaze of overzealous creeps who don’t understand the true meaning behind “I can’t give you my number because my Mom doesn’t like her phone to ring after 5 p.m.,” also known as “I’m just not that into you.”
Cabana One Lounge & Pool Club offers plenty means of distraction each Thursday at Rooftop Royalty. Besides enjoying sweeping views of the Magic City and Biscayne Bay, you can bury yourself in a game of tennis on one of the Nintendo Wii’s, groove to the DJ-spun tunes, or chug one of the lifted lounge’s signature cocktails. If an ice-cold 007 doesn’t help you evade the losers, nothing will. The party rocks from 9 p.m. to 5 a.m. on the rooftop of the Mayfair Hotel and Spa.
