With its swank beach resort setting, colorful cast of partygoers, and sultry soundtrack, Sunday’s IndepenDANCE Pool and Beach Party at the Doubletree Surfcomber South Beach Miami Hotel is the hallmark Fourth of July event for South Beach club rats. This year, the party’s organizers have booked Armin Van Buuren and Sander Kleinenberg, two international megastars of dance music and staples of Winter Music Conference.
Trance DJ/producer Van Buuren is the Netherlands’ biggest DJ export. Around 30 million people tune in to his weekly radio show, A State of Trance, and the celebrated DJ commands dance floors worldwide, from Amnesia in Ibiza to Ministry of Sound in London. Fellow Dutchman Sander Kleinenberg came to international prominence in the mid-’00s for his catchy big-room releases, including the infectious electro-house banger “This Is Miami,” which was number one on Australia’s ARIA music chart.
