Miami has recently been inundated with contemporary dance, in incarnations from mixed-ability performers to hip-hop heavyweights. But the classics still have a place in the Magic City. Dance lovers looking for traditional ballet will want to find a seat at the Adrienne Arsht Center’s Ziff Ballet Opera House (1300 Biscayne Blvd., Miami) for Miami City Ballet’s Program III, The Masters. The highly regarded company, one of Miami’s true cultural achievements, always delivers with panache and class. For its spring lineup, MCB returns with a heavy dose of what has been its specialty since its founding — the choreography of Balanchine, three pieces in total. They include the dark “La Valse,” the lighter “The Steadfast Tin Soldier,” and “Tchaikovsky Pas de Deux.” But it will also feature a newly commissioned work from hot choreographer Alexei Ratmansky, set to Rachmaninoff’s “Symphonic Dances.”
