Peter London teaches choreography at the New World School of the Arts, where he mentored Robert Battle, recently named director of the Alvin Ailey American Dance Theater. But long before that, the Trinidad native studied classical ballet and became a principal dancer in the Martha Graham Dance Company.
Then he decided he wanted his own company, the Peter London Global Dance Theater, and he wanted it based in Miami. He would combine African, Native American, Caribbean, and European traditions and put them onstage, with his own unique voice sounding behind it. London the teacher wants to educate the world in dance; London the dancer wants to showcase local talent and export it globally.
