You love your brother. He’s your best bud. Your bond is thicker than blood. You and your brother are like two peas in a pod. And then the inevitable happens. Your brother gets a girlfriend. And not just any girlfriend — “the one.” Soon enough, she’s included in the activities once reserved for only you guys. She has completely wedged herself between you two to the point you just don’t hang out anymore. The pod still has two peas — only you’re not one of the peas anymore.
And then the bomb drops. Your brother is going to pop the question and marry this succubus. He’s going to build a new life around her. Your bond is no longer so strong. You’re screwed. Such is the plight Brad faces in Alliance Theatre Lab’s comedy Brothers Beckett. Brad’s brother, Kevin, is going to marry his college girlfriend, and Brad is going to do everything in his power to sway his bro from taking the big plunge. The play, authored by David Michael Sirois, opens this Thursday.
Thursdays-Sundays, 8 p.m. Starts: March 17. Continues through April 3, 2011
